About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and supervise guests in pool and recreational areas to ensure their safety with vigilant oversight.
  • Respond promptly as a first responder during emergencies, performing lifesaving measures, CPR, and first aid when required.
  • Enforce safety policies, rules, and regulations to maintain a secure environment for guests.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of aquatic facilities, ensuring supplies and equipment are stocked and in good condition.
  • Manage radio communications effectively with Lifeguard Coordinators, Recreation Managers, and other departments, especially during emergency scenarios.
  • Engage proactively with guests to address their questions and meet their needs, enhancing their overall experience.
  • Assist with additional duties as directed by management, including participating in training and supporting Port Adventures activities.

Required Qualifications

  • At least six months of recent experience working as a lifeguard.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment swim test, lifeguard training, and ongoing recertification.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to distress signals and noises in aquatic settings.
  • Passing a vision screening with minimum 20/25 vision, corrected or uncorrected.
  • Physical capability to perform strenuous tasks such as lifting guests up to 100 pounds (with assistance) and standing outdoors for extended periods in varying weather.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an open water lifeguard.
  • Familiarity with boats, snorkel gear, or other recreational equipment.
  • Strong computer literacy and operational skills.

Additional Information

  • This position is based onboard a ship as part of the Cruise Line team.
  • Applicants must be enthusiastic about a maritime career and willing to live and work aboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel.
  • Compliance with safety roles, emergency duties, and safety management systems on board is mandatory.
  • Candidates should be prepared to share a cabin with fellow crew members and adapt to a multicultural environment with strict rules and regulations.
  • Applicants must possess a valid passport and be eligible for a C1/D Seaman's visa (necessary documents will be provided by Disney Cruise Line).
  • Completion of a pre-employment medical examination and criminal background check is required.
  • Approved work shoes must be brought onboard.
  • Disney Cruise Line operates a drug-free workplace; new hires will undergo drug and alcohol testing during their initial week and periodically through their contract period. Failure to comply will result in immediate termination.
