About the Role
The International School of Lusaka is seeking a qualified Lifeguard and Swim Coach dedicated to ensuring the safety of students during aquatic activities while providing professional swimming instruction. The role involves overseeing pool safety, coaching swimmers of various skill levels, and supporting aquatic events.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor all swimming sessions to guarantee adherence to pool regulations, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
- Perform rescues for swimmers in peril and administer First Aid and CPR as necessary.
- Evaluate water and pool conditions and take immediate action to address any hazards.
- Deliver swim lessons and coaching for learners ranging from novices to advanced swimmers.
- Contribute to the planning and management of swimming galas, competitions, and other water-related school events.
- Inspect and maintain all pool safety equipment to ensure readiness and reliability.
- Assist with pool maintenance activities, including water quality testing, inventory checks, record keeping, and maintaining cleanliness of the pool area.
- Keep detailed logs of incidents, accidents, and safety inspections.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, and school staff.
- Support Physical Education programs during seasons when swimming activities are limited, as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a diploma or bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in lifeguarding or swim coaching roles.
- Valid and recognized lifeguard certification.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR that is currently valid.
- Proven expertise in swimming, water rescue techniques, and emergency response protocols.
- Experience coaching swimmers of diverse age groups and skill levels.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong dedication to student safety and safeguarding standards.
- Willingness to work occasional extended hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Mandarin language proficiency is considered a plus.
