Job description
Role overview
This position is for a lifeguard at Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts in Doha, Qatar. The role sits within the Golf, Fitness, & Entertainment category and is a full-time, non-management position based on-site at the property’s conference centre location.
What you will do
- Watch the swimming area closely and use the correct rescue methods whenever a swimmer needs help.
- Stay alert for unsafe conditions, risky behavior, or guests who appear to be struggling in the water.
- Enforce the recreation area’s rules and guidelines in a clear and courteous manner.
- Alert a supervisor or manager if a guest may not be able to safely take part in an activity.
- Help injured guests until emergency medical services arrive.
- Help create a welcoming, enjoyable, and relaxed environment for guests using the pool and recreation areas.
- Collect, fold, and arrange towels according to company procedure.
- Clean the pool deck by washing, mopping, and maintaining the area.
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions promptly, and complete any required safety training and certifications.
- Follow company policies, safeguard confidential information, and protect company property.
- Greet all guests according to brand standards, maintain a neat and professional appearance, and respond quickly to service needs.
- Offer support to guests with disabilities, thank guests sincerely, and communicate in clear, professional language.
- Work respectfully with colleagues, uphold quality standards, inspect tools and equipment for defects, and perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
Physical demands
The job requires the ability to react quickly to work situations, stand, sit, or walk for long periods, and move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces. It also involves lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or placing objects up to 50 pounds without assistance and over 75 pounds with assistance, as well as bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, and handling objects with good hand-eye coordination.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred. The role does not require prior related work experience and does not require supervisory experience. Candidates must hold CPR certification, first aid certification, fitness equipment certification, and any other certification or training required by local and state agencies.
