Licensing Officer - Dairy Plant

Role Overview

The Licensing Officer for a dairy plant is responsible for keeping the facility fully aligned with food safety, statutory, and regulatory licensing obligations. This role covers securing new approvals, renewing existing licenses, and maintaining ongoing compliance through effective coordination with regulatory bodies.

Reporting Line

Reports to the QA Manager or Plant Head.

Work Location

Dairy Processing Plant, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Key Responsibilities

• Arrange, obtain, and renew every statutory license and registration needed for plant operations.
• Maintain adherence to food safety and legal requirements, including FSSAI and related regulations.
• Liaise with government offices for inspections, audits, approvals, and follow-ups.
• Keep license files, permits, and compliance records current and well organized.
• Draft and file applications, statutory returns, and regulatory submissions within deadlines.
• Monitor expiry dates and initiate renewals well before deadlines.
• Assist in internal and external compliance audits.
• Track regulatory updates and implement necessary process or documentation changes.
• Work closely with QA, Production, Procurement, Engineering, and HR teams on compliance matters.
• Maintain records in line with GMP, GHP, HACCP, ISO 22000, and other relevant standards.
• Address non-compliance findings and drive corrective actions to closure.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Dairy Technology, Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or another related discipline is required. A certification in Food Safety or Regulatory Affairs is an added advantage.

Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 7 years of experience in licensing, regulatory compliance, or quality assurance within a dairy or food processing environment.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of FSSAI rules and the Food Safety and Standards Act
• Familiarity with dairy sector compliance and statutory requirements
• Excellent documentation and record-keeping ability
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills for dealing with authorities
• Working knowledge of GMP, GHP, HACCP, and ISO 22000
• Competence with MS Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
