Licensed Aircraft Engineer Level II - Borescope Inspection (BSI)

General Overview

As a Licensed Aircraft Engineer Level II specializing in engine facility operations and borescope inspections, you will undertake off-wing engine maintenance, rework, and support activities within your licensed authority. Your tasks will include engine LRU assembly, module removal and installation, engine preservation, inspection during receipt and dispatch, and management of spare engines. Your performance will ensure maintenance efficiency, minimal turnaround time, and strong support for Qatar Airways' engine operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize your license and approvals to carry out scheduled and unscheduled borescope inspections to maintain uninterrupted engine service.
• Alert supervisors promptly about potential disruptions, challenges, or concerns that could affect operations.
• Apply specialized expertise to guarantee safe, effective, and efficient engine maintenance procedures.
• Execute engine and APU receipt and dispatch inspections, engine transportation, fan split and mating, LRU build-up, module removal and installation, and certification activities to support timely production of spare engines/APUs.
• Deploy all resources efficiently to ensure maintenance tasks for Qatar Airways engines, including casualty handling, meet the highest standards of safety and quality in a cost-effective manner.
• Adhere strictly to Qatar Airways’ work procedures and engine maintenance standards, identifying and recommending process improvements where needed.
• Verify that engine maintenance activities are completed within designated policies, procedures, and timeframes.
• Maintain serviceability standards and resolve engine technical issues to meet scheduled production requirements.
• Carry out both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks in accordance with company standards and airworthiness regulations.
• Manage various engine types and configurations as per approved aircraft maintenance manuals.
• Maintain engines in a ready-for-installation status to meet planned scheduled and unscheduled engine swap targets.
• Ensure comprehensive shift handovers are completed and updated following TPM protocols.
• Collaborate with the database team to keep technical data updated and compliant with the technical network file server policies.
• Maintain up-to-date authorization privileges for engine release to service in line with TPM and QCAA regulations.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the department head.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Hold minimum two engine type certifications or borescope approvals.
• Possess at least 5 years of aircraft certifying experience.
• Experience with borescope inspection and QEC/LRU build-up on engines such as V2500, Trent 500, Trent 700, Trent XWB, GE CF6-80E1, GE90, GENX, GP7000, PW4158, and PW1000, with at least two Qatar Airways engine types.
• Capability to extract and interpret data from technical publications.
• Strong knowledge of aviation regulations and safety legislation.
• Skillful in determining necessary tools and equipment for tasks, using mathematics for problem-solving, and operating equipment or system controls.
• Proficient with MS Office applications and Adobe Acrobat software.
• Familiarity with Airbus and Boeing Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, specifically regarding operational limitations.
