Job description
Role overview
Gulf Helicopters is looking for a seasoned, self-sufficient Licensed Aircraft Engineer with B1/B2 credentials to support VVIP rotary-wing missions. This position is highly autonomous and demands a person who is comfortable with frequent travel, long remote deployments, and working as the only engineering authority on location. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining safety, reliability, and airworthiness through independent technical judgment, regulatory compliance, and expert maintenance execution.
Purpose of the role
You will deliver line and/or base maintenance on company-operated VVIP helicopters, including during extended assignments in remote locations. All work must align with approved technical data and Part-145/MOE requirements, with the goal of keeping aircraft compliant, safe, and released on time for service. The role requires very limited on-site engineering support, so you must be able to make maintenance and airworthiness decisions independently within your authorization.
Core responsibilities
- Carry out and certify both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and component replacements using AMM, CMM, IPC, and other approved technical references.
- Diagnose defects accurately and complete corrective action across airframe, engine, avionics, and electrical systems.
- Perform pre-flight, post-flight, and daily checks to keep the aircraft available for operation.
- Issue Certificates of Release to Service within the limits of your B1 or B2 license, type ratings, and company approval.
- Act as the sole engineering decision-maker on remote VVIP detachments when no local engineering supervision is available.
- Support maintenance on other fleet types when required, including technician-level tasks beyond your own type rating, and assist other trades during maintenance activity.
- Work closely with Production Planning from a distance to arrange spares, rotables, ground support equipment, calibrated tools, and AOG assistance during deployments.
- Provide on-site oversight to ensure work is performed safely, to the required quality standard, and in line with company procedures.
- Maintain technical records accurately, including TLB entries, job cards, defect logs, and work sheets.
- Contribute to audits and inspections and help implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Take part in the Safety Management System through hazard identification, reporting, investigations, and risk reduction activities.
- Support Management of Change activities and recommend technical improvements that strengthen reliability and safety.
Compliance, safety, and performance expectations
- Follow QCAA Part-145, CAMO, ICAO, and company MOE requirements without exception.
- Apply strong FOD prevention, tool control, calibration, and human factors practices.
- Help improve dispatch reliability, reduce maintenance-related delays, minimize AOG events, and improve turnaround time.
- Deliver maintenance that is accurate, timely, and right the first time, with documentation that supports quality and safety targets.
Qualifications and experience
- Hold a valid EASA Part-66 B1.3 and/or B2 license, or an ICAO-equivalent unrestricted AME license.
- Be eligible for, or already hold, valid CRS authorization.
- Have at least one valid type rating from AW189, AW139, or S92.
- Bring a minimum of 10 years of helicopter maintenance experience in a Part-145 environment.
- Have at least 5 years of certifying experience on AW189, AW139, or S92.
- Demonstrate proven supervisory capability with experience guiding technicians and junior engineers.
- Show the ability to work independently without local engineering support, including during extended remote detachments.
- Have strong troubleshooting capability in mechanical/engine systems for B1 or avionics/electrical systems for B2.
- Be comfortable working in multi-national and multi-cultural environments, ideally in VVIP or Head-of-State helicopter operations.
Additional requirements
- Must pass the security vetting and checks required for VVIP work.
- Must pass the company’s medical examinations.
- Should be willing to work shifts, be on call, travel extensively, and deploy to remote locations at short notice.
- Must maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and presentation suitable for VVIP and Head-of-State operations.
Preferred background
- Additional type ratings across the Gulf Helicopters fleet are an advantage.
- Experience as an SMS practitioner, including audit participation, investigations, and safety reporting, is beneficial.
- Previous exposure to VVIP, Head-of-State, or other high-profile passenger operations is preferred.
Documents to submit
Applicants should provide an updated CV along with supporting records such as licenses, type ratings, HF/EWIS/FTS certificates, training records, attested education and employment certificates, and a passport copy.
Selection note
Only candidates who are shortlisted will be contacted.
