Job Summary

The Library Clerk assists the Librarian/Media Specialist in fostering student success by supporting the use of library resources. Responsibilities include maintaining, documenting, and recording library materials and aiding the integration of library services with campus instructional programs and technology.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage automated circulation routines for library materials, including online resources.
  • Support teachers and students in locating relevant resources.
  • Collect instructional materials that align with teaching plans.
  • Organize and maintain library collections.
  • Handle daily upkeep and housekeeping of the library space.
  • Process and check new library materials upon receipt.
  • Create bulletin boards, displays, and interest centers for library promotion.
  • Conduct story time sessions at the elementary level under the direction of the media specialist.
  • Assist with skill development classes or group activities as needed.
  • Help students and teachers with proper use and care of equipment and technology.
  • Prepare books for binding and repair processes.
  • Complete other tasks assigned by library or campus leadership.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Typing proficiency of at least 35 words per minute.
  • Prior clerical and data processing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work under varying environmental conditions.
  • Physical capacity to lift and carry up to 10 pounds and perform tasks involving bending, reaching, standing, and walking.
  • Adaptability to changing tasks and ability to multitask as necessary.
  • Maintain emotional composure under pressure and in noisy environments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with computer applications and devices such as SmartBoards and document cameras.
  • Ability to follow directions from campus leadership.
