Overview

The Level 1 (Graduate) Consultant will be a vital member of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team, contributing to the successful delivery of diverse environmental projects located in Tullamore, County Offaly, or Sandyford, Dublin. This permanent, full-time role offers a hybrid working model and opportunities to develop core technical expertise in environmental assessment, planning, and compliance.

Role Purpose and Scope

This position supports the execution of high-quality environmental assignments by assisting with research activities, data gathering, technical report preparation, and project administration under senior supervision. The consultant will assist in projects across sectors including residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments, gradually gaining confidence in technical writing, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and consultancy best practices.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Contribute to environmental project delivery by supporting inputs for EIA Screenings, Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR), Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), and other related assessments.
  • Support preparation of technical documentation, figures, appendices, and project outputs under guidance.
  • Conduct baseline research, review data, assist with site visit planning, and gather relevant environmental information.
  • Help manage project coordination duties such as tracker maintenance, organizing project data, and ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Facilitate communication internally within project teams, with sub-consultants, and external stakeholders as necessary.
  • Participate in fee proposal development, project administration, and quality assurance practices when appropriate.

Candidate Requirements

  • Demonstrated interest or relevant experience in environmental consultancy, assessment, planning, or a related discipline, including placement experience.
  • Understanding of environmental assessment procedures with eagerness to develop proficiency in EIA Screenings, EIARs, and supporting environmental reporting.
  • Possession of at least a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in environmental science or a similar field.
  • Strong organizational abilities, self-driven attitude, and willingness to learn from senior team members.
  • Excellent attention to detail with solid report writing and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good problem-solving aptitude with the discipline to request guidance as needed.
  • Capability to adhere to deadlines, manage assigned responsibilities, and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Effective interpersonal skills that support productive teamwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic commercial awareness including knowledge of project budgets, time tracking, and efficient work delivery.
  • Ability to comprehend instructions clearly, ask clarifying questions, and fulfill tasks within agreed scope and timelines.
  • Commitment to follow all applicable health and safety protocols of the company and clients.
  • Valid full clean driving licence.
