Role overview
Walsall Council is recruiting Leisure Attendants (Lifeguards) to help maintain a safe, well-presented and welcoming environment across its leisure facilities. The role is suited to dependable, customer-oriented people who can support swimmers, respond to incidents and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the centres.
What you will be doing
- Keeping a close watch on poolside activity and making sure swimmers remain safe at all times
- Acting quickly and confidently in emergency situations
- Providing a friendly, helpful customer experience for every visitor
- Helping with equipment preparation and maintaining cleanliness throughout the centre
- Supporting the overall delivery and presentation of services within the leisure centres
- Delivering high-quality lifeguarding support and safe supervision of customers

Working pattern and contract details
This is a permanent opportunity available on both full-time and part-time bases. The role involves rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Pay and benefits
The salary is G4, ranging from £26,403 to £28,142 per year, with pro-rata pay for part-time hours. Walsall Leisure also offers development opportunities, including training routes that may lead to swimming teaching, relief duty management, centre assistant and gym instructor responsibilities. - Bloxwich Active Living Centre: 1 part-time post, 18.5 hours per week

- An enhanced DBS check is required for this position
- The post holder must be able to communicate clearly in spoken English with customers and provide accurate advice and information
