Job description

Role Overview

Goodwin’s Global Operations Team supports the firm’s business professionals across a broad, international environment. In this position, you will work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and business leaders to keep day-to-day legal operations running smoothly. The role sits within a collaborative, cross-functional setting where learning from colleagues, building connections, and working together are central to the culture.

The firm advises clients in complex and high-value matters across litigation and dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, advisory work, and transactions. Its values include integrity, ingenuity, agility, and ambition, and the team has been recognized by The American Lawyer as the “Best Business Team.”

This opportunity is suited to a proactive, detail-focused professional who can thrive in a busy legal environment and wants to contribute meaningfully while developing professionally.

Administrative Support

You will handle a wide range of daily support tasks for attorneys, paralegals, and business leaders. This includes managing complex calendars, setting up meetings, coordinating travel, and organizing meeting logistics such as conference room reservations, guest registration, equipment needs, and catering. You will also manage communications across calls, email, and physical mail, while preparing expense reports and check requests accurately and on time. Backup coverage for other secretaries and assistance with overflow or absence-related work may also be required.

Document Preparation and File Management

Your work will include proofreading and editing legal documents, correspondence, memos, and other communications to ensure clarity and accuracy. You will also support audit response letters and keep client and administrative records organized within the firm’s electronic document management system so materials can be retrieved quickly and remain compliant with internal policies.

Business Intake and Conflicts

You will assist with opening new client and matter numbers, updating existing matters, completing conflict checks, and preparing engagement letters. You will also coordinate signing through DocuSign.

Time Entry and Billing Support

You will help attorneys and paralegals with time entry by entering, reviewing, editing, and releasing time records. You may also assist the billing process by tracking deadlines and circulating prebills for attorney review.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is organized, articulate, confidential, and comfortable handling multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment. Strong technical skills, a service mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential.

Benefits and Additional Information

Goodwin offers a competitive compensation package and a comprehensive benefits program that includes health, dental, and vision coverage; life and disability insurance; a retirement and savings plan; emergency back-up care for children and adults; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; professional development and career growth opportunities; employee recognition and rewards; wellness and assistance programs; and employee discounts and perks.

This role is eligible for overtime. The target salary range varies by location and experience and is $85,000 to $105,000.
