Legal Research Analyst

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Legal Research Analyst to work remotely on a contract basis. This full-time position offers an annual compensation range between $350,000 and $500,000. The successful candidate will spearhead the design and advancement of evaluation frameworks tailored for AI agents functioning in legal sectors, incorporating benchmarking suites and measurement systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, manage, and refine frameworks to evaluate AI systems within legal contexts, including benchmarking and scoring methods.
• Perform innovative research on aspects such as legal reasoning, interpretation of laws, and automation of legal workflows.
• Build and maintain comprehensive datasets, case studies, and benchmarking scenarios that simulate practical legal challenges.
• Partner with AI engineers and researchers to test, assess, and enhance models and agent-based systems focused on legal applications.
• Assess AI model effectiveness, reasoning capabilities, and identify errors or weaknesses specific to legal use cases.
• Document and share research outcomes and best practices internally concerning AI evaluation in legal settings.

Candidate Requirements

• Hold an advanced legal degree such as JD, LLM, SJD, PhD in Law, or an equivalent qualification.
• Bring substantial specialization in legal sectors like corporate law, contract law, or regulatory compliance.
• Present proven experience in legal research, analytical work, or policy formulation.
• Demonstrate expertise in developing formal approaches to gauge legal argumentation quality and research standards.
• Possess strong analytical thinking and excellent written communication abilities.
