About the Role
Join the General Counsel’s Organization (GCO) at American Express, a team where legal expertise drives global business strategy. The GCO aims to protect and empower American Express by providing strategic legal guidance that aids business partners in managing risk, recognizing opportunities, and delivering exceptional products and services worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate legal cases in the case management system and assign them to appropriate teams.
- Verify the legitimacy of legal demands following American Express policies.
- Draft formal communication to issuers of legal requests.
- Analyze legal requests thoroughly, research customer accounts, and identify pertinent documents.
- Collect necessary documents and prepare legal responses compliant with relevant laws and company protocols.
- Support ongoing legal order processing activities and contribute to process improvements.
- Adhere strictly to United States and other jurisdictional laws as well as company guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in law or a related discipline.
- Up to two years of experience in legal operations, in-house legal departments, or private legal practice.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Strong sense of urgency, ability to identify critical issues and meet deadlines promptly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Quick learner for navigating and extracting data from various databases and platforms.
- Effective in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Committed to maintaining confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
