Role overview

Drew Eckl & Farnham is looking for a Legal Nurse Consultant with a minimum of five years of nursing experience. A legal background is not necessary, though candidates with experience in emergency room or urgent care settings are preferred. Strong organization, sharp attention to detail, comfort with research, and the ability to manage substantial medical records and document review are important for success in this position.

Key responsibilities

  • Create medical timelines, narrative injury summaries, and reports covering special damages.
  • Examine case files, medical documentation, and related materials to prepare evaluations and trial status updates.
  • Condense medical records, articles, reports, witness statements, and depositions into clear summaries.
  • Build, structure, and maintain case files, medical records, pleadings, attorney notebooks, expert witness notebooks, and document logs.
  • Identify and communicate with expert witnesses, coordinate inspections, and obtain required approvals from counsel and relevant parties.
  • Review and organize medical records, including indexing and summarizing the contents.
  • Review and organize depositions, including indexing and summarizing the contents.
  • Carry out medical research assignments using available resources such as libraries and computer-based information systems.
  • Prepare checklists and set up form files.
  • Verify citations and references in both drafted and computer-generated materials for accuracy.

Requirements

Candidates should have at least five years of nursing experience. Experience in emergency room or urgent treatment environments is preferred. Prior legal experience is optional. The role suits someone who is highly organized, meticulous, comfortable with large volumes of documentation, and confident in research and medical record analysis.
