Job description

Role Overview

ALI BIN ALI is looking for a Legal Counsel to support the group, its affiliates, and subsidiaries with a broad range of corporate and commercial legal matters. The role focuses on reviewing, drafting, and negotiating agreements, advising internal stakeholders, and helping ensure legal and regulatory compliance across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine, redraft, and update contracts and agreements to protect the company’s position.
  • Carry out legal research and provide practical legal opinions and consultations.
  • Handle corporate compliance matters and help ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Negotiate contract terms with third parties, suppliers, contractors, and other service providers.
  • Prepare standard agreement templates for use in third-party compliance.
  • Review licenses and registrations of external parties engaged for services.
  • Support the legal team and business divisions with legal guidance, advice, and informed recommendations.
  • Review agreements connected to the group, its affiliates, subsidiaries, and sister companies.
  • Interpret GCC laws and regulations as they relate to the organization and its related entities.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and service-related contracts.
  • Keep the organization and related entities aligned with current corporate legal requirements.
  • Review legal translations when needed.
  • Assist with legal studies and research while ensuring processes follow legal best practices and corporate standards.
  • Interface with third parties and suppliers on matters connected to the organization and its related entities.
  • Take on additional duties as required by the role.
  • Support leadership in shaping medium- and long-term direction.
  • Contribute to the department’s strategic goals.
  • Help safeguard the company from transactional and contractual risks.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Bilingual communication in English and Arabic; knowledge of French is considered an advantage.
  • Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation capability.
  • Good understanding of corporate, commercial, and common law principles.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Confident interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Computer literacy and comfort with standard office tools.
  • High integrity, initiative, self-motivation, and a proactive work style.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience preparing templates and legal documentation for group-wide use.
  • Awareness of arbitration, commercial agencies, and legal registration processes.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should hold a law degree from a reputable university. The role calls for 10 years of overall experience, including at least 5 years as a practicing lawyer or in-house counsel. A strong background in corporate and common law is needed, especially in contracts, commercial agencies, formation of new entities, legal documentation and registration, and arbitration.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Doha, Qatar.
