Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced in-house legal counsel specializing in data privacy to join our Singapore office. The successful candidate will deliver expert legal guidance on worldwide data privacy regulations and support Temu’s global operations by developing and maintaining robust compliance frameworks and handling all legal documentation concerning data privacy matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to evaluate data privacy and security risks, as well as regulatory governance associated with products and technologies.
- Assist the business in designing privacy-focused, trustworthy products and services.
- Provide advisory services on data management practices, including privacy issues related to product development, marketing, advertising, and governance.
- Act as the subject matter expert for regulatory inquiries, investigations, and individual complaints concerning data privacy.
- Offer specialized advice on global privacy laws across various jurisdictions, particularly on sensitive and highly regulated information.
- Draft, review, and negotiate data protection clauses in commercial contracts.
Qualifications and Skills
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent from a recognized law school.
- Active and reputable membership in a recognized bar association.
- Significant expertise in data privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA, PIPA, and related regulations.
- Proven experience in managing complex data privacy issues and crafting compliance programs and privacy strategies.
- Strong analytical aptitude to identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential risks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external legal advisors.
- Highest standards of integrity, professional conduct, and meticulous attention to detail.
