- Assist in managing customer grievances, regulatory inquiries, and internal compliance situations.
- Research legislative and regulatory changes impacting consumer finance and update internal documents accordingly.
- Help facilitate compliance training across internal teams.
- Work collaboratively with product and engineering teams to integrate compliance measures into loan origination and servicing systems.
- Review marketing and loan disclosure materials to verify compliance with Regulation Z and UDAAP requirements.
- Participate in third-party vendor risk evaluations, especially regarding loan origination platforms, credit reporting agencies, and payment processors.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree required.
- Minimum of 7 years of legal practice experience, with at least 3 years focused on consumer finance regulatory compliance.
- Prior experience in-house at fintech firms, banking institutions, or mortgage companies preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of secured lending, marketing, and servicing regulations.
- Proficiency with compliance monitoring tools, regulatory databases, and project management software such as Asana.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, and superior verbal and written communication abilities.
- Preference given to candidates based in Northern California; strong remote candidates will also be considered.
