Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Legal Assistant located in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. The Legal Assistant will provide critical support to attorneys by managing daily tasks such as preparing and organizing various legal documents, maintaining and updating case files, and coordinating filings with the court. Additional responsibilities include managing attorneys' calendars, scheduling client meetings and court appearances, and handling communications including phone calls, emails, and client correspondence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys by preparing, formatting, proofreading, and organizing legal pleadings, motions, agreements, and correspondence.
  • Maintain both digital and physical filing systems and enter data accurately into firm management systems.
  • Coordinate and schedule client meetings, court dates, and other appointments.
  • Handle client intake processes and gather case-related information efficiently.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys and other staff to ensure smooth case management and professional client service.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Solid understanding of legal processes in family law, criminal defense, business law, and estate planning.
  • Experience with legal document preparation and office administration tasks such as calendar management and filing systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients, attorneys, court personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or similar legal support role, including familiarity with legal practice management and document management software.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational aptitude.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism and integrity.
  • Minimum education requirement: high school diploma or equivalent; preferred qualifications include an associate or bachelor's degree in a related discipline or a paralegal/legal assistant certification.
