Role overview
This is a flexible, project-based remote contract opportunity for an experienced legal professional to help assess and improve how large language models handle legal reasoning. The work sits at the intersection of law and AI, with a focus on evaluating outputs across several legal practice areas.
Compensation and time commitment
The engagement is paid at $100 to $200 per hour. Expected availability is approximately 20 to 30 hours each week.
What you will do
- Check and polish AI-generated legal responses to ensure they are accurate, well-reasoned, and easy to understand.
- Assess legal reasoning across areas such as mergers and acquisitions, criminal law, personal injury, tax, and environmental law.
- Create and review prompts, model answers, and grading rubrics used to measure the quality of legal reasoning.
- Work with researchers to mirror real legal workflows and practical use cases.
Candidate profile
- Hands-on legal experience with exposure to more than one practice area, such as M&A, criminal law, or tax.
- A J.D. from a top 50 U.S. law school.
- Strong background in legal research, analysis, and structured legal writing.
- Ability to turn complex legal questions into clear, organized evaluation standards.
- Comfortable operating independently in a remote, asynchronous setup.
