Job description
Role overview
The College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky is seeking a full-time Lecturer in Instructional Communication. The expected start date is either January 1, 2026 or August 15, 2026, depending on when the selected candidate is available.
Teaching responsibilities
The primary duty is to teach four courses each semester. The teaching load may include undergraduate composition and communication courses such as CIS 110 Composition and Communication I, CIS 111 Composition and Communication II, CIS 112 Accelerated Composition and Communication, as well as business communication through CIS 300 Strategic and Business and Professional Communication.
Each course is supported by a course coordinator who creates the core syllabus and Canvas course shell for all instructors. In addition, the ICR Program Coordinator provides faculty support.
Appointment details
This is typically a nine-month appointment that runs from August 16 through May 15 each year. The initial lecturer appointment is for one year and may be extended for additional terms depending on program requirements, funding availability, and the candidate’s performance.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold either a terminal degree or a master’s degree in Communication or a closely related field, along with relevant professional experience. Prior teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
