Job description

Role overview

Meta’s People Development function is focused on helping every employee, team, and leader perform at a higher level by strengthening capabilities, culture, and the way people work alongside AI. The group supports growth through coaching, team development, leadership experiences, performance systems, and scaled skills initiatives that are designed to work together as one connected system.

This position is part of the Leadership Development team, with a primary emphasis on team development and coaching. The purpose of the role is to help selected leaders and teams strengthen the skills and operating systems they need to solve their biggest leadership challenges and create meaningful business impact. The team operates in a lean, consultative way and collaborates closely with Business and HR leaders to expand leader development, team effectiveness, and healthy organizational practices across Meta. This individual contributor role reports to the Director of Leadership Development.

What you will do

  • Assess leadership and team effectiveness at the system level by using evidence-based methods such as team assessments, 360 reviews and debriefs, stakeholder interviews, and organizational data to uncover root causes and turn findings into practical intervention plans.
  • Create and run tailored leadership and team experiences, including team sessions, leadership alignment work, transition support, and coaching engagements that are informed by diagnosis and tied to real business outcomes.
  • Coach senior leaders using ICF-aligned coaching practices, building the leader’s own capability through professional, evidence-based 1:1 coaching rather than advisory-style feedback.
  • Act as a source of insight across the company by spotting patterns, sharing learnings, and spreading effective practices across business groups through a rotational deployment approach.
  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners on intake, scoping, and alignment while preserving the independence needed for candid and trusted engagements.
  • Serve as a gateway into the broader People Development ecosystem by connecting leaders to executive development offerings, coaching, growth programs, and skills development resources.
  • Support organizational change and work-environment transformation, helping leaders navigate restructures, strategy shifts, and AI-driven change with a strong change-management lens.
  • Stay current on leadership effectiveness, team dynamics, and organizational health, bringing fresh research and outside perspective, especially as AI changes leadership at scale.

Experience, qualifications, and fit

The role calls for deep experience in leadership development, organizational effectiveness, or a closely related area, along with substantial time spent in learning and development or leadership development work. Strong capability in diagnosing teams and leaders, designing bespoke development interventions, and coaching executive-level talent is essential. Candidates should also bring experience in complex, technical, multicultural, and globally distributed organizations, plus a history of building trusted relationships with both business and HR partners. The work requires self-direction, sound judgment, and the ability to seek input when needed.

Preferred background

Meta would especially value candidates with a PCC- or MCC-level ICF credential, graduate-level study in organizational psychology, organizational development, or leadership development, and experience in consultative or rotational delivery models. Comfort working in ambiguity and fast-moving environments is important, as the work is shaped by diagnosis rather than a fixed playbook. A thoughtful perspective on how AI is reshaping leadership, team dynamics, and organizational design is also preferred.

Since the launch of Facebook in 2004, the company’s products have changed how people communicate, including Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Meta is now working toward more immersive experiences such as augmented and virtual reality to shape the next generation of social technology.
