Job description

About Paws & Co

Paws & Co is a pioneering subscription-first veterinary brand launching in Dubai in December 2026, with plans to expand throughout the GCC and Asia Pacific. The company focuses on personalized, membership-based pet healthcare, prioritizing prevention, continuity, and genuine care over commerce. Paws & Co aims to offer pet owners peace of mind and a supportive environment for veterinarians, emphasizing clinical excellence and mental wellbeing.

Role Overview

As the Lead Veterinarian, you will oversee comprehensive general veterinary care and take responsibility for each patient's health journey. Through personalized care plans supported by an in-house app, your focus will be on continuous, preventive medicine rather than episodic treatment. You will work autonomously, backed by Clinical Guardian Dr. Farah Murrani, to ensure clinical standards are upheld without compromise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of general practice services including wellness exams, vaccinations, diagnostics, internal medicine, dentistry, routine surgeries, and urgent care.
  • Emphasize prevention by identifying diseases early and giving life-stage and breed-specific care.
  • Establish long-term relationships with patients and their families, managing continuity of care.
  • Perform routine medical and surgical procedures confidently, and involve specialists when needed for best outcomes.
  • Communicate transparently and empathetically with pet owners, recommending care based solely on patient need, not financial targets.
  • Collaborate with expert veterinary nurses practicing at the top of their scope.
  • Provide compassionate end-of-life care in a specially designed farewell suite, supporting families through this process.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess a recognized veterinary degree and be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the UAE with at least five years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrate strong capabilities in general practice areas including internal medicine, dentistry, and routine soft tissue surgeries.
  • Have advanced diagnostic imaging skills, especially abdominal ultrasound, point-of-care ultrasound, and radiographic interpretation; experience with echocardiography is a significant advantage.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, understanding both animals and their owners to foster clear communication and trust.
  • Show a natural preference for preventive medicine and a commitment to continuity of care.
  • Maintain integrity regarding treatment costs and options, ensuring that patient care takes precedence over commercial interests.
  • Possess a collaborative mindset, encouraging and uplifting colleagues and nursing staff.

Benefits and Culture

  • Competitive salary surpassing market rates with genuine clinical independence under expert mentorship.
  • Equity ownership opportunities—veterinarians are partners, not just employees.
  • A dedicated wellbeing program focused on veterinary team mental health, unique in the region.
  • Clinical practice supported by advanced technology including a proprietary app for medical records, appointment bookings, telemedicine, and customized care plans.
  • Modern, thoughtfully designed clinics structured to optimize veterinary work and patient care.
  • A commitment to social responsibility with one percent of all revenues donated back to animal welfare through a dedicated Community Fund.
