Lead Mechanical Engineer

Overview

Seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to direct mechanical engineering efforts focusing on rotating machinery within EPC project environments. This role encompasses involvement from proposal through construction and commissioning phases, with added benefit from knowledge of static equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and oversee all activities related to the Mechanical Discipline engineering efforts.
• Coordinate across disciplines and strengthen team collaboration.
• Proactively identify and communicate challenges to management to enable timely resolution.
• Engage actively in meetings including progress reviews, technical discussions, client interactions, and vendor consultations.
• Support procurement processes such as generating Material Requisitions, evaluating technical bids, and preparing purchase requisitions.
• Assist bidding teams by issuing RFQs, performing technical bid evaluations, and estimating costs.
• Provide technical support during construction by addressing site-related technical queries.
• Review and provide feedback on engineering deliverables from GES plus on a selective basis.
• Ensure deliverables meet safety and quality standards.
• Participate in value engineering activities including lessons learned sessions, risk assessments, constructability studies, and related workshops.
• Strive to achieve and maintain customer satisfaction and recognition.

Experience and Education

• At least 10 years of combined experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Power sectors.
• Demonstrated experience working with EPC contractors like GES plus on projects for Saudi Aramco, SABIC, and similar reputable organizations.
• Familiarity with FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) procedures.
• Experience supporting pre-commissioning phases.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BS, BE, or BTech).
• Relevant training and certifications are expected.

Technical Expertise

• Extensive knowledge of rotating equipment used across Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, and Water industries.
• In-depth familiarity with Saudi standards (Saudi Aramco, SABIC, DEP, Royal Commission, HCIS) and international standards including ASME, ANSI, API, ATEX, JIS, CSA, NEC, NFPA, FM, UL.
• Skillful in developing technical specifications and datasheets for pumps (centrifugal, reciprocating, positive displacement, screw types), spanning small to large sizes.
• Experienced in creating specs and datasheets for compressors including instrument air, process air, nitrogen, low and high pressure, side stream gas, and refrigeration compressors.
• Strong command over mechanical seal systems aligned with industry standards and process necessities.
• Good understanding of interfacing disciplines including piping, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, and control when preparing equipment specs.
• Advantageous if knowledgeable in static equipment such as tanks, spheres, columns, furnaces, reactors, exchangers, and pressure vessels.
• Active involvement in safety assessments such as QRA, Envid, Hazid, Hazop, and SIL studies.
