Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Lead Cinematographer and Editor to serve as the primary visual storyteller for the "Plugged In Archives" series, a 10-part cinematic documentary currently in production. This role goes beyond typical freelance work; it is a long-term creative partnership intended to shape and define the series' visual style from inception through completion.

Project Details

• Ten documentary episodes planned
• Each episode approximately five minutes in length
• Filming located throughout New York City
• One production day per episode, roughly 4 to 5 hours
• Small collaborative production team
• Emphasis on lasting creative collaboration

Every episode will come with detailed scripts, production guides, shot lists, storyboards, and clear creative direction prior to filming.

Responsibilities

• Execute filming of each episode employing cinematic techniques
• Edit footage into refined cinematic short films
• Conduct professional color correction and grading
• Complete sound design and optimize audio quality
• Incorporate archive-inspired titles, graphics, and transitions as needed
• Produce one 60-second trailer for the series
• Create two promotional teaser edits
• Make five vertical social media clips per episode
• Supply high-resolution still images from footage for marketing purposes

Compensation

The role offers a flat rate of $1200 for each fully finished episode. With 10 episodes planned, the contract may total up to $12,000. Payments are processed upon final delivery of each episode and its associated materials.

Qualifications

• A robust portfolio or demo reel showcasing relevant work
• Prior experience in documentary, narrative, or cinematic filmmaking
• Proficiency using video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of camera operation, lighting, composition, and storytelling through moving images
• Competence in professional color grading and sound design techniques
• Dependability and strong organizational skills with ability to meet production deadlines
• Excellent communication abilities
• Preferred commitment to the entire 10-episode project
