The LD Screener position at BASF ECMS in Huntsville, AL is responsible for operating equipment safely, identifying and segregating materials, and ensuring the quality of screened parts. This role involves adhering to work instructions, maintaining a safe work environment, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. The screener will also be responsible for accurate record-keeping and supporting team members.Responsibilities
- Operate all assigned equipment in strict accordance with safety protocols.
- Promptly report any observed unsafe conditions to supervisory staff.
- Adhere to all established work instructions for trained job tasks.
- Actively promote and maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment.
- Accurately identify and segregate any rework materials removed from the production process.
- Properly identify and segregate scrap materials to prevent contamination.
- Screen and pack quality parts, ensuring all customer specifications and requirements are met.
- Set up and operate stamp and label machines correctly for each production lot.
- Utilize the specifications database to understand and apply various customer requirements.
- Contribute to maintaining scrap levels at or below the company's established goal.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately for assigned job duties.
- Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.
- Close Lot packages and investigate any discrepancies in counts.
- Become proficient in operating all equipment within the assigned area, which may include frit blasters and production saws.
- Make dispositions for parts or products that are under review.
- Provide relief for team members and finishers during their breaks.
- Operate a forklift as needed to support operations.
- Be capable of covering any position on the pack line as required.
- Notify the Team Leader immediately of any excess scrap generation.
- Monitor and record oven temperatures as per procedure.
- Complete all required system transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Coordinate Finisher assignments as necessary to ensure smooth workflow.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing plant setting is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior coursework in Math and Science is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to operate machines of medium complexity, potentially including intermediate computer skills.
- Enhanced capability to troubleshoot the assigned production process.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Capacity to work with minimal supervision and manage problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations, often requiring multi-step tasks.
Additional Information
- Starting Pay: $20.07/hr
- Shift differential: $0.50/hr for day shift and $2.50/hr for night shift.
