Job description
Role overview
Lake Assault Boats is hiring a Welder/Fabricator to help build advanced marine craft in Superior, Wisconsin. This position offers hourly pay between $17.50 and $34.12 and gives you the chance to contribute to specialized aluminum boat production for demanding customers, including public safety and defense users.
About the team
You will join a production environment focused on craftsmanship, innovation, safety, and reliability. The work is primarily carried out in an indoor, heated shop, with occasional tasks connected to watercraft handling and varying outdoor conditions. The company takes pride in producing vessels that support and protect others.
What you'll do
In this role, you will fabricate and weld aluminum components used in custom boats. You will review engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan layout and assembly work, then carry out MIG and TIG welding in multiple positions to meet required quality and safety standards.
Day-to-day work also includes using safety gear and power tools, keeping a close eye on accuracy and workmanship, and helping with the preparation, loading, and unloading of high-speed watercraft. The role requires steady attention to detail and the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
What you need
Successful candidates should have strong welding, fabrication, and fitting abilities, especially with aluminum. Familiarity with standard manufacturing build methods is important, along with the ability to follow directions and procedures with limited supervision. You should also be able to solve basic problems with guidance and communicate clearly with supervisors and managers.
Good listening skills, solid math ability, critical thinking, and time management are important for this position. Physical readiness is also essential, as the job involves bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, repetitive motions, working in tight spaces, and lifting, moving, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs. A weld certificate or technical training is preferred, and applicants must pass a qualification test.
Physical and working conditions
The job may require standing, sitting, walking, writing, hearing, and visual attention. Work may take place in areas that are not environmentally controlled. You must be able to work around manufacturing equipment and participate in getting underway with high-speed watercraft in variable weather conditions.
Benefits
Eligible employees may receive Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, Paid Time Off, and an Equipment Stipend.
Equal opportunity and screening
Lake Assault Boats is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, including people with disabilities and veterans. Final candidates must complete a pre-employment drug screen before starting work, and employment depends on a negative result.
