Job Overview
Laundry Helpers at Walt Disney World operate in a fast-paced environment handling large volumes of linens using specialized laundry machinery and cleaning chemicals. They are responsible for sorting, stacking, and transporting linens throughout the resort to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and guest service, ensuring a magical stay for all visitors. New hires will receive four weeks of paid training.
Key Duties
- Operate and maintain specialized laundry equipment efficiently.
- Interpret and follow chemical usage charts accurately.
- Perform repetitive tasks aimed at meeting daily team goals.
- Rotate between various stations such as sorting, folding, hanging, flatwork, and side cleaning daily.
- Assist with loading and unloading linens from trucks at the laundry facility.
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility and equipment.
- Work in varied conditions including both indoor and outdoor environments with temperatures sometimes exceeding 95 degrees indoors.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- At least one year of prior experience in laundry or manufacturing within a high-volume setting.
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and kneeling.
- Good communication skills to collaborate positively with team members and supervisors.
- Compliance with personal protective equipment usage such as hearing protection and safety goggles when required.
- For part-time: availability for any shift with a minimum commitment of three days per week including nights and holidays.
- For full-time: availability for any shift seven days a week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience in a high-volume laundry or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Conversational English skills are advantageous.
Additional Information
The resort operates round the clock throughout the year, with shifts potentially starting as early as 5:00 AM and ending as late as 3:00, 4:00, or 5:00 AM. Seniority principles are applied for scheduling. The hourly wage for this position in Florida is $19.
