Role Summary
The Academy is looking for a dependable, careful, and hardworking Laundry Attendant Cover to support the smooth handling of students’ laundry and residential linens. This role is central to maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic living environment that supports student comfort and well-being.
Key Duties
- Oversee the daily laundry workflow for students, including washing, drying, pressing, and folding uniforms and personal clothing.
- Keep the laundry area tidy and orderly, and ensure equipment and supplies are maintained and stored safely.
- Track cleaned items accurately and make sure they are returned to the correct students without delay.
- Replace bed linen as needed and ensure mosquito nets and other residence furnishings remain clean, functional, and well cared for.
- Coordinate and monitor external cleaners so dorm rooms and shared areas remain hygienic, safe, and presentable.
- Escalate any repair or maintenance concerns in the residence or laundry area to the supervisor promptly.
- Follow infection-control and hygiene procedures in all laundry and cleaning tasks in line with institutional standards.
- Return used or surplus bedding, linen, and cleaning materials to the linen store when required.
- Contribute to the overall cleanliness, order, and welfare of the student residence and related facilities.
Requirements
- KCSE or an equivalent qualification is required.
- A certificate in Housekeeping, Laundry Operations, or Hospitality Services will be an added advantage.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in laundry, housekeeping, or hospitality work, preferably in a school, hotel, or similar institutional environment.
- Working knowledge of infection control, hygiene standards, and safe handling of laundry equipment and detergents.
- Sound understanding of laundry routines such as washing, ironing, folding, and linen management.
- Ability to maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling and returning students’ belongings.
- Collaborative mindset with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, honest, and caring, with a genuine concern for students’ welfare.
