Position Summary
Wanless is looking for a dependable Yard/Landfill Operator at the Proserpine/Kelsey Creek Landfill and Resource Recovery Facility. The role involves managing plant and machinery to process waste and recyclables, ensuring site cleanliness, and working collaboratively within a small operational team following high safety standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operate equipment and machinery utilized in landfill and resource recovery processes.
- Conduct daily inspections and maintenance checks on operational machinery.
- Manage sorting, movement, and disposal of waste, adhering to environmental and operational guidelines.
- Maintain landfill cells, stormwater areas, and overall site tidiness.
- Coordinate with weighbridge staff, supervisors, and colleagues to ensure efficient site workflow.
- Participate in waste management initiatives and ongoing improvement efforts.
- Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations consistently.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in waste management, civil operations, or equivalent hands-on operational fields.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in operating related machinery.
- Possession of relevant licenses or tickets (e.g., HR license, excavator, loader, compactor) is advantageous.
- Dedicated to workplace safety, environmental care, and adherence to procedures.
- Detail-oriented with an ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a small team.
- Basic competency with smartphones and digital reporting tools.
- Valid driver's license and dependable transport.
- Willingness to pass pre-employment medical assessments and participate in ongoing random drug and alcohol tests.
