About the Role

Amentum invites applications for a full-time Labourer position based at the Alice Springs office. This role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and involves working on minor construction projects, utilizing both hand and power tools. Tasks include digging trenches, backfilling holes, compacting or removing earth, mixing, pouring, and spreading concrete. Additionally, the Labourer supports skilled tradespeople such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers. Landscaping duties include lawn maintenance activities such as mowing, trimming, edging, and weed control, alongside other general responsibilities as required.

Work Schedule

The position involves a 38-hour weekly schedule from Monday to Thursday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and Friday from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute a variety of tasks to support contract requirements including operating tools, trenching, earthworks, and concrete work.
• Assist tradespersons and support facility maintenance activities as needed.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and maintain a professional approach to all tasks.
• Report safety incidents promptly to management.
• Complete assigned duties within set timeframes while following company procedures.
• Utilize computer systems for recording and planning work assignments.
• Perform any additional duties as directed by the Vesta Management Team.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a valid Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver’s Licence.
• Experience or background in carpentry, electrical, or plumbing trades is a strong advantage.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety with a solid record of safe work practices.
• Capable of collaborating effectively within team settings.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience or willingness to work at heights (desirable).
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Skilled at identifying and resolving workplace issues.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The role requires performing physically demanding tasks in Alice Springs’s hot climate, including patching and painting walls, housing maintenance repairs, outdoor tap replacement, lawn upgrades, and door replacements.
