About Tera Mira
Tera Mira is an innovative London-based deep-tech startup pioneering sustainable textiles by replacing elastane—a petroleum-based stretch fiber found in most clothing—with a bio-based, biodegradable elastic fiber sourced from seaweed. Role Overview
The Laboratory Technician will be directly involved in transforming seaweed-derived polymers into elastic fibers. Working under the guidance of the Senior Biopolymer Scientist and CTO, the technician's responsibilities include preparing material formulations, conducting wet-spinning experiments, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring precise data collection essential to advancing research and development.
Key Duties
- Accurately mix reagents, solutions, and spinning dopes according to specific protocols.
- Conduct wet-spinning trials, operate laboratory instruments carefully, and adhere strictly to safety standards.
- Label and prepare fiber samples for mechanical and performance evaluations, carrying out routine tests as required.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of a degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a systematic approach to lab procedures.
- Genuine enthusiasm for practical, hands-on experimental work.
