Position Overview
The Lab Facilitator role is a regular part-time position reporting to the Interim Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science, Engineering, Technology & Trades. The position involves supporting the HVAC program by facilitating refrigeration laboratory sessions during the fall (September to December) and winter (January to May) semesters. The incumbent ensures lab safety, guides students through complex lab procedures with demonstrations and technical advice, and collaborates with faculty to align lab activities with academic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of refrigeration labs within the HVAC program ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Demonstrate all lab equipment and techniques effectively to support student comprehension and execution.
- Prepare all necessary lab supplies and equipment in advance according to the lab schedule.
- Act as a technical resource for both faculty and students, providing support for lab operations and addressing any difficulties students may face.
- Maintain accurate documentation for safety, accident, and incident reports following established procedures.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a valid and current Certificate of Qualification for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic 313A.
- Have up to five years of practical experience working with refrigeration equipment.
