About the Role
Based in Somerset at a prestigious co-educational day and boarding school serving approximately 1,300 students daily, this full-time permanent Kitchen Porter position offers an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and friendly catering team. The role involves maintaining exemplary cleanliness and hygiene standards within the kitchen to support a vibrant food service providing breakfast, lunch, and supper.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness across all kitchen areas at all times.
- Operate industrial dishwashing equipment efficiently and safely.
- Clean and upkeep kitchen equipment, including heavy-duty catering machinery such as air filters and extraction systems, following proper instructions.
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
- Perform pot wash duties to help keep the kitchen workflow smooth.
- Contribute positively as a cooperative and motivated team member.
Candidate Profile and Required Skills
- Prior kitchen porter experience is advantageous but not a requirement.
- Possess a proactive 'can do' attitude and strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrate good verbal and written English communication abilities.
- Have some familiarity with customer service or food preparation environments is preferred.
