Role overview
The Kitchen Porter supports the day-to-day running of the kitchen by keeping cookware, tableware, and glassware clean and ready for service. The position is central to maintaining a safe, hygienic, and well-organised back-of-house environment.
Core duties
- Clean, rinse, and sanitise pots, pans, plates, utensils, and glassware to match operational demand.
- Use commercial dishwashing and cleaning machinery according to safety guidance and manufacturer instructions.
- Keep kitchen workstations and storage spaces clean, orderly, and service-ready.
- Remove and dispose of waste correctly, ensuring bins are emptied and surrounding areas remain tidy during shifts.
- Follow Food Safety and Health & Safety requirements, including UK compliance standards such as HACCP.
- Work to set cleaning schedules and standard operating procedures.
- Assist the kitchen team during busy periods by restocking supplies, flagging shortages, and helping wherever needed.
- Handle equipment and kitchen items with care to reduce breakages and protect stock integrity.
- Replenish items such as toiletries, towels, and cleaning materials when needed.
- Store and use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.

Candidate profile

Working expectations
This is a full-time, onsite position in Manchester. The role may require flexibility across all shifts, including weekends and public holidays. The pay rate is £14.50 per hour.
