Job description
Role overview
Mitre 10 Kerikeri is a locally owned and operated store known for strong customer service. This position sits in one of the store’s most inspiring departments and offers the chance to guide customers through kitchen and bathroom transformations. You’ll use your creativity to design and sell kitchen and bathroom solutions, supporting customers from initial ideas through to completed makeovers. The role covers both design and retail sales, so you’ll stay busy across two areas of the department.
Working pattern
This is a 32-hour-per-week position. Shifts include one weekend day each week and may also involve public holidays.
Key responsibilities
- Help grow sales by delivering an outstanding customer experience.
- Work with customers to create kitchen and bathroom designs, including both custom layouts and suitable flat-pack options.
- Listen carefully to customer needs so the final solution matches their requirements.
- Keep merchandising standards high and maintain stock presentation.
- Support the setup and presentation of floor stock and product displays.
- Think creatively to develop practical design solutions for kitchens and bathrooms.
- Use the store’s design software once trained.
- Handle heavy lifting and general physical tasks as part of the role.
- Promote health and safety and follow safe work practices at all times.
What the employer is looking for
The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to customer service, solid communication skills, and excellent attention to detail, especially where precise measurements matter. Retail experience is helpful, as is the ability to stay effective under pressure. Strong merchandising ability and a willingness to work on a roster that includes weekend shifts are also important. Experience in a similar position would be an advantage, but attitude is considered more important.
Benefits
- Work with one of New Zealand’s largest home improvement retailers and a trusted trade partner.
- Join a fast-moving workplace with broad opportunities.
- Be part of a positive, supportive, and inclusive team culture.
- Receive a staff discount for Mitre 10 Kerikeri, Columbus Kerikeri, and other available benefits.
- Access strong learning and development opportunities.
Additional conditions
- Employment offers depend on background checks, including reference checks and Ministry of Justice checks.
- Applicants must be able to meet the inherent requirements of the role.
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
- Applications are reviewed as they are received, so early submission is encouraged.
