Overview

Join a dedicated team at The Global Institute for Health and Human Rights, providing supportive, enriching care for children at our Kids Zone drop-in centers. This role involves direct engagement supervising and facilitating group games, crafts, and STEM activities designed to develop social skills and encourage teamwork in a safe environment. The position is part-time and on-site, with variable shifts aligned with Kids Zone hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise groups of children to ensure their safety and a positive atmosphere.
  • Lead and assist in planning and executing engaging program activities including games, arts, and STEM.
  • Adhere strictly to organizational policies on medical, disciplinary, and emergency protocols, including child abuse prevention.
  • Maintain professional communication with parents or guardians to share insights about their child's participation and to promote future programming.
  • Ensure all toys and equipment are clean, safe, properly arranged, and stored.
  • Participate in staff meetings and required training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program success.

Physical Requirements

This role demands regular communication and hearing, frequent standing and walking, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally. Visual acuity including close, distance, peripheral vision and color differentiation is necessary. Reasonable accommodations are available to support employees with disabilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 16 years.
  • At least six months of experience working with children in roles such as camps, child care, tutoring, nannying, or coaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to embody the organization's core values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
  • Experience in planning and facilitating group activities is preferred.
  • Familiarity with diverse populations and multilingual abilities are considered advantageous.

Shift Details

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Monday to Thursday: 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
