Job description
Position Overview
Valiant Integrated Services is looking for proficient linguists to deliver interpretation, transcription, and translation support for current and upcoming U.S. operational and mission needs.
Key Duties
- Perform precise, consecutive translation, transcription, and interpretation between Kazakh, Russian, and English languages.
- Translate diverse syntax, including colloquial and slang expressions across English, Kazakh, and Russian.
- Operate and travel within challenging and austere environments.
- Provide cultural and ethnic insights on conversations, documents, and situations.
- Thoroughly analyze and research foreign language materials.
- Carry out additional related assignments as necessary.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Kazakh, Russian, and English with Level 3/3 Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) rating; native-level fluency is preferred.
- Extensive regional cultural knowledge, with prior experience in the area; native familiarity is preferred.
- Strong interpreting and translating experience between Kazakh, Russian, and English.
- Ability to comprehend all standard dialects and vocabulary with minimal paraphrasing.
- Understanding of local culture and customs for effective interaction within the community.
- U.S. citizenship mandatory.
- Possession of, or eligibility for, a Secret clearance.
Additional Conditions
- Selected candidates must hold or qualify for the required Personnel Security Clearance.
- Undergo comprehensive medical and dental exams to verify fitness for duty and receive necessary immunizations for the deployment area.
- Must have adequate unaided hearing; if not, pass speech recognition testing with an approved waiver.
- Capability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- No medical restrictions preventing required duties or use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Fit to work under extreme environmental conditions including high temperatures, low humidity, and dust.
- Availability to work irregular schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Follow proper lifting and material handling procedures safely.
- Physical endurance for standing, stooping, crawling, and climbing using appropriate PPE over extended periods unassisted.
