Role Summary

As a K8 School Counselor based remotely, you will employ modern instructional tools to engage and tailor learning experiences for students. Your role involves regular virtual consultation with students and their learning coaches to facilitate successful course completion and personal development.

Key Duties

• Provide guidance to students and families on academics, career planning, well-being, and graduation requirements.
• Stay informed on promotion standards and assist with secondary course selection aligned with graduation prerequisites.
• Support development of individualized Four-Year Plans for students to meet graduation goals.
• Conduct welcoming communications and maintain ongoing progress monitoring for students.
• Use multiple communication channels such as phone, email, and LiveLessons to engage families.
• Offer regular individual and group support sessions with students synchronously.
• Monitor student progress, pace, and wellness proactively using available data analytics.
• Guide students on course adjustments adhering to school policies.
• Ensure accuracy and maintenance of student transcripts and manage transfer of records in coordination with administrative staff.
• Implement programs addressing interpersonal skills, college readiness, career awareness, and character education.
• Collaborate with school teams to connect families with appropriate educational and community resources.
• Participate in crisis prevention/management planning and coordinate Student Support Teams (SST) for ongoing student monitoring.
• Manage and escalate SST cases as necessary, focusing on academic success and personalized support.
• Assist families with withdrawal processes and report critical incidents concerning student welfare as required by law and policy.
• Support teachers with mid-semester enrollments and provide guidance on student integration and credit evaluation.
• Encourage students in exploring educational pathways and options.
• Contribute to professional development initiatives for school staff.
• Undertake teaching and grading responsibilities when needed.
• Coordinate school promotion and graduation events.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Possession of state school counseling certification preferred; alternatively, teaching certification is required.
• Strong proficiency with technology, particularly Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A customer-oriented mindset with high attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Flexibility and a collaborative spirit with leadership qualities.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced remote work environments.
• Capability to utilize personal electronic device and manage email with two-factor authentication.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected starting salary for candidates based in Colorado begins at $36,000 annually. Eligible employees have access to a range of benefits offered by the company.
