Role Overview
In the role of K-5 Math Curriculum Writer, you will develop and tailor standards-aligned mathematics instructional materials for grades kindergarten through five. This includes creating lesson plans, assessments, and diverse student resources intended to encourage deep mathematical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Primary Duties
- Write and modify Math curriculum components such as units, lesson plans, assessments, and student materials.
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, editors, and instructional designers to ensure content quality.
- Incorporate best instructional practices that are evidence-based in Math education.
- Revise curriculum materials based on client feedback to improve relevance and effectiveness.
- Assist in creating professional development resources for educator training.
- Stay up-to-date with current trends in Math education and integrate innovative teaching strategies.
- Utilize new technologies and tools to increase learner engagement.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, education, or a related discipline.
- Experience or familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and aptitude for learning novel software platforms.
- Strong knowledge of the U.S. K-12 educational framework is preferred.
- Excellent writing skills; prior experience in educational writing is advantageous.
- Meticulous attention to detail and committed to promoting educational equity.
- Comfortable using project management systems and managing deadlines.
- Willingness to dedicate up to 50 hours per week depending on project demands.
- Demonstrated commitment to organizational inclusivity and mission-driven work.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills;
- Capable of prioritizing, multitasking, and managing ambiguity under tight schedules.
- A sense of humor and ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
- Preferred experience in teaching, whether professional, volunteer, or internship-based.
