Position Overview
Albion Central School District in Albion, New York is seeking a K-5 General/Visual Arts Teacher to nurture creativity and visual expression in elementary students. This role focuses on helping children build artistic skills, deepen their appreciation for art, and discover their talents through age-appropriate instruction aligned with school expectations.
What You Will Do
The educator will teach art to students with a wide range of strengths and learning needs, adapting instruction so every child can grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Lessons will cover drawing, painting, lettering, art history, and core design concepts, along with practical studio skills and safe use of art materials.
Key Responsibilities
You will plan, deliver, and assess visual arts instruction for elementary grades, including differentiated support for individual students and small groups. The role also includes maintaining materials and equipment, organizing storage and inventory, creating student art displays, communicating with families and counselors, supporting enrichment activities such as an after-school art club, and taking on other duties assigned by school administration.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have experience teaching elementary art or a closely related role, strong understanding of teaching methods and classroom management, and experience working with children who have diverse needs. A minimum of a BA in Visual Arts or a related discipline is required, along with valid New York State certification. Hired candidates must also complete NYSED TEACH fingerprint clearance, drug testing, a current TB test, and a physical exam dated within the last year.

Employment Details
This is a ten-month full-time position. Compensation will follow the ATA contract step schedule and be set by the Board of Education. The posted salary range is $49,037 to $55,000, with Step 1 listed at $49,037 to $55,000. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2026. Requirements and Conditions
- Valid New York State certification is required.
- NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities (SWD), Birth-Grade 2 and Grades 1-6, or Permanent Special Education is required.
- Minimum BA in Visual Arts or a related field is required.
- Experience as an elementary school art teacher or in a similar position is expected.
