Job description

About the company

Zertificon Solutions is a software company that has been developing IT security products since 2004. Its solutions are used to encrypt business communications, and more than a quarter of the 100 highest-revenue companies in Germany rely on the Z1 encryption suite, alongside many mid-sized businesses across different industries. The company is steadily expanding and employs nearly 140 people at its Neukölln location in Berlin.

The team is looking for someone who enjoys working in a highly professional environment, contributing expertise, learning continuously, and helping shape the next stage of the product.

Role overview

This position is for a Technical Product Owner with a strong technical perspective to guide the development of the Z1 Appliance, which serves as the virtual base for server-side security products and services. The platform is a central part of the company’s B2B portfolio and is moving from a Debian Linux foundation toward a modern container-based architecture.

What you will do

  • Act as the main connection point between development and business stakeholders by collecting needs from the market and internal teams and turning them into actionable project requirements.
  • Define and steer the product vision and roadmap for your platform area in line with company objectives and in close partnership with business teams.
  • Convert broad feature ideas into epics and user stories, each with specific acceptance criteria.
  • Keep the product backlog current, organized, and prioritized for the engineering team.
  • Create simple mockups on your own to support usability, and work with UI/UX designers on more complex mockups and prototypes.
  • Carry out market and competitor research to inform platform direction and strategy.
  • Manage existing partnerships with virtualization and cloud infrastructure providers while also helping establish new ones.

What we are looking for

  • At least 2 years of experience in a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role in an agile setting.
  • A solid technical foundation and the ability to understand platform-level topics.
  • Experience writing epics, user stories, and bug reports.
  • Comfort working with Debian Linux and current technologies such as microservices, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with concepts like clustering, load balancing, multi-tenancy, storage services, and high availability.
  • Very strong English communication skills, with at least C1 level required for international collaboration.

Good to have

  • Knowledge of SaaS infrastructure design and operations.
  • Practical experience using UX mockup tools such as Figma or Adobe XD.
  • German language skills.

Benefits and offer

  • Flexible working hours and the option to work from home.
  • Mobility support in the form of a Germany-wide public transport ticket, bike leasing, or parking access.
  • Meal support, including help with delivery services, plus support for home office internet costs.
  • Urban Sports Club membership for fitness and wellness activities.
  • Office amenities such as rooftop terraces, a green courtyard, organic fruit and drinks, and acceptance of personal packages at the office.
  • Regular social activities, including monthly Pizza Friday, recurring team events, and a large summer celebration.
  • Structured onboarding, regular feedback, and clear goals through responsible leadership.
  • A stable, profitable company that has been innovating for more than 20 years without startup-style risk.
  • An international, collaborative team with over 120 colleagues from more than 30 countries.

Location

This is an on-site role based in Neukölln, Berlin, Germany.
