Role Overview

We are seeking a Junior Software Developer to contribute to the development and scaling of our AI-driven digital health platform. This role involves hands-on software engineering alongside activities in planning, testing, operations, and maintenance within a rapid release cycle. Ideal candidates are entrepreneurial, curious, and self-starting individuals who take ownership of problems and drive solutions forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop front-end components utilizing TypeScript, HTML, Lit web components, and Tailwind CSS / daisyUI.
• Create back-end features leveraging Python with Django and htmx.
• Manage databases with PostgreSQL and handle infrastructure-as-code tasks.
• Ensure product reliability through automated testing and proactive monitoring to catch issues early.
• Collaborate within a cross-functional team throughout the design, development, and testing phases.
• Participate in iteration planning, bug resolution, and deployment of software releases.
• Stay abreast of emerging development trends, tools, and technologies.
• Encourage innovation by proposing and integrating new technologies and process improvements.
• Proactively identify areas for product and workflow enhancements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of professional software development experience (including co-op roles).
• Proficiency in front-end web technologies: TypeScript, CSS, HTML5; and back-end development with Python and Django.
• Experience using testing frameworks such as Vitest, Jest, or equivalents.
• Skilled in building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Demonstrated self-initiative in learning and development through projects, open-source, or community engagement.
• Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on correctness, edge cases, and maintaining high code quality.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and take initiative in a fast-paced entrepreneurial setting.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of server-rendered or progressively enhanced UI technologies like htmx or Hotwire; familiarity with SPA frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Experience handling relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with end-to-end testing tools like Playwright or Selenium.
• Exposure to AI or Large Language Model integrated functionalities.
• Experience in Web Components and Lit framework development.

Work Environment and Benefits

• Hybrid work model with on-site presence required three days per week.
• Full-time position with a salary range between $75,000 and $85,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
