Junior Research Analyst (Co-op) - 4-8 Month Term

Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is seeking a student co-op placement for a Junior Research Analyst role in Pickering, Ontario. This 4 to 8 month term is designed for a detail-focused student who enjoys working with research, data, and written communication to support branch-level initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Carry out research and analysis on policies, academic sources, programs, legislation, and current industry practices and trends to help advance branch priorities
• Track and record where information comes from
• Prepare background materials and share research outcomes through literature reviews, environmental scans, memos, charts, or reports as needed
• Help provide technical support when responding to information requests
• Find, gather, and analyze data that supports branch work
• Assist with data analysis and communicate the results of research clearly
• Take on other related tasks as required

Requirements

• Current enrollment in a post-secondary program in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Geography, Data Science, Public Policy, Economics, or a related discipline
• Registered in a recognized co-op placement program
• Comfortable using Microsoft tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Strong ability to stay organized and manage time effectively
• Good spoken and written communication skills
• Willingness to travel when needed
• Knowledge of tools or languages such as ArcGIS, QGIS, SQL, SPSS, R, or Python is an asset
• Valid driver’s licence is an advantage

Salary range: CAD 47,627 to CAD 57,103.
