About the Company
Hawkins is a major New Zealand construction business known for delivering some of the country’s most recognisable and technically demanding projects. Its portfolio includes work across airport terminals, office buildings, university campuses, and healthcare facilities, with a strong focus on commercial construction.
Role Overview
An opening is available in Hawke’s Bay for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join the team. The role reports to a Project Manager and is centered on the financial control of projects.
What You Will Do
You will help manage project finances by setting and tracking budgets, checking cost-to-complete figures, reviewing programme progress, handling progress claims and variations, and maintaining financial reports and systems.
This position places you alongside experienced construction professionals and offers exposure to complex commercial work.
Candidate Profile
To be suitable for the role, you should have at least 2 years of experience on mid- to large-scale commercial construction projects. A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, or a closely related qualification, is required.
You should be a strong communicator and team player, comfortable working with clients, consultants, and senior leaders. Solid knowledge of New Zealand contract law is important, along with strong financial understanding. Experience with Jobpac or a similar financial control system is highly desirable, and advanced ability in Excel is expected.
Why Join Hawkins
