Role overview
This opportunity is for a Junior Quality Assurance Specialist position with a Haystack partner in Washington, DC. The role focuses on ensuring that hardware, software, and related documentation meet required standards in a complex, computer-driven environment.
Core responsibilities
- Build and apply quality control approaches that support compliance with established procedures and standards.
- Set up methods to assess hardware, software, and documentation across the full development cycle.
- Plan and carry out tests to check systems for correctness, reliability, and alignment with specifications.
- Identify and escalate defects, breakdowns, and errors to management so they can be addressed.
- Draft, update, review, and maintain Quality Assurance Plans as well as Software Quality Assurance Plans.
- Track quality-related reports and documentation using digital engineering platforms such as Confluence and JIRA.

- Prior experience in quality assurance within software and systems engineering settings.
- Strong understanding of quality control practices, including ISO-9001 requirements.
- Hands-on exposure to testing approaches, QA tools, and Agile work environments, especially Confluence and JIRA.
- Good analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort working with cross-functional teams and managing QA documentation accurately.
- U.S. citizenship, or Green Card permanent residency with at least 3 years of U.S. residency.
