Role overview

This opportunity is for a Junior Quality Assurance Specialist position with a Haystack partner in Washington, DC. The role focuses on ensuring that hardware, software, and related documentation meet required standards in a complex, computer-driven environment.

Core responsibilities

  • Build and apply quality control approaches that support compliance with established procedures and standards.
  • Set up methods to assess hardware, software, and documentation across the full development cycle.
  • Plan and carry out tests to check systems for correctness, reliability, and alignment with specifications.
  • Identify and escalate defects, breakdowns, and errors to management so they can be addressed.
  • Draft, update, review, and maintain Quality Assurance Plans as well as Software Quality Assurance Plans.
  • Track quality-related reports and documentation using digital engineering platforms such as Confluence and JIRA.

What the employer is looking for

  • Prior experience in quality assurance within software and systems engineering settings.
  • Strong understanding of quality control practices, including ISO-9001 requirements.
  • Hands-on exposure to testing approaches, QA tools, and Agile work environments, especially Confluence and JIRA.
  • Good analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working with cross-functional teams and managing QA documentation accurately.
  • U.S. citizenship, or Green Card permanent residency with at least 3 years of U.S. residency.
