Position overview
Spinneys, a major premium grocery retailer in the UAE, is hiring a Junior Quality Assurance Officer for its Food Manufacturing team in Dubai. The role focuses on helping put the Food Safety Management System into practice, supporting compliance work, and ensuring that products and processes meet both regulatory standards and customer expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Track production activities, critical control points, hygiene standards, and adherence to the food safety management system.
- Review quality concerns and customer complaints, determine the underlying cause, and help drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Deliver induction and refresher training on food safety and hygiene for new joiners and existing employees.
- Take part in internal and external audits, health and safety risk assessments, and mock recall drills.
- Work with production and QA technologists to revise SOPs, flowcharts, and training documentation.
- Keep complete and accurate records such as food safety reports, non-conformance logs, cleaning schedules, and meeting notes.
- Liaise with suppliers and external service providers to resolve quality concerns and maintain QA expectations.
- Support the Hygiene team when the Hygiene Supervisor is unavailable and help promote food safety awareness initiatives.
- Prepare weekly reports and contribute to ongoing improvements in product and process quality.
Required qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a closely related discipline.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a quality assurance position within food manufacturing.
- Solid understanding of HACCP, GMP, food safety rules, and risk assessment methods.
- Ability to train and support operational teams on hygiene and food safety practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and outside partners.
- Well-developed documentation, troubleshooting, and organizational abilities.
- Capability to handle several tasks at once, support QC officers, and help lead quality efforts on the factory floor.
- Practical, team-oriented approach with attention to detail and a continuous-improvement mindset.
