Junior Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor

Position Overview

The Atlantic Projects Company is seeking a full-time Junior Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor based at its Tarbert site in County Kerry, Ireland. This temporary position is expected to last approximately 18 months and involves working in person at the site from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including a one-hour break. Reporting to the HSE Manager, the advisor will assist in implementing and sustaining Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) systems, policies, and procedures to ensure a secure and compliant workplace.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the deployment of health and safety policies and procedures throughout the workplace.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and walk-throughs to identify hazards and report unsafe conditions or behaviors.
• Assist with risk assessments and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Contribute to incident, accident, and near-miss investigations while tracking corrective and preventive actions.
• Support compliance with environmental regulations by monitoring aspects such as waste management, emissions, spills, and usage of resources.
• Maintain environmental records and assist with audits and inspections.
• Help deliver EHS trainings, including inductions and toolbox talks, and prepare related educational materials and communications.
• Engage in internal audits and inspections, prepare findings, and support follow-up action plans.
• Keep EHS documentation, registers, and databases organized and up to date.
• Assist in incident reporting, corrective action implementation, and emergency preparedness activities like drills and equipment checks.
• Serve as a primary contact point for basic EHS inquiries when needed.
• Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, permits, and licenses, maintain safety data sheets (SDS), and support contractor safety documentation and onboarding.
• Collaborate closely with operational teams, supervisors, and contractors, escalating safety issues to senior personnel as necessary while fostering a culture of safety awareness.
