About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Health and Safety Advisor to support our award-winning Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental team. This full-time position is primarily site-based across Waterford and Southeast regions, with the main office located in Kilkenny. The role involves extensive travel between sites and the regional office.

Company Overview

Our client is a leading engineering firm specializing in high-quality water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout Southeast Ireland. Due to business expansion and new contract acquisitions, they are looking for a committed Health and Safety professional to contribute to maintaining top safety standards across various projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster and encourage a proactive health and safety culture across multiple operational sites.
  • Implement and oversee company HSQE (Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental) policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Perform regular site inspections, audits, and risk evaluations.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, provide coaching, and deliver training sessions to both staff and contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records of HSQE activities using the online Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) management system.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to site teams and management on safety improvements and compliance issues.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Possess a degree or equivalent qualification in Health and Safety or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a comparable health and safety advisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working within the construction sector, preferably with utilities projects.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HSQE regulations, ISO standards, and industry best practices.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and training skills, with the ability to influence and challenge decisions where needed.
  • Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Full and valid Irish driver’s license, with the capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
