Role Overview

This part-time role as a Junior Finance Officer at Irish Around Oz in Perth, Australia, requires close collaboration with the Finance and Systems Manager to manage and support various financial operations effectively and compliantly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process financial transactions accurately, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense reimbursements.
  • Maintain well-organized and precise financial records aligned with applicable accounting standards and legal regulations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of management reports with variance analysis and interpretative commentary.
  • Manage creditor processes by reviewing and overseeing current automations to ensure completeness and timely action.
  • Handle debtor management by proactively communicating with staff and clients to resolve issues.
  • Support payroll processing across the company, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to verify cash balances.
  • Assist in developing automation solutions within finance and across the organization to improve efficiency.
  • Uphold high data integrity standards across multiple financial and non-financial systems.
  • Help create financial models and annual budgets.
  • Ensure all transactions are accompanied by proper approvals and documentation.

Innovation and Process Improvement

  • Promote new automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Engage in discussions to improve work system processes, leveraging technology for better information sharing, management, and quality control.
  • Monitor current work standards and processes, proposing recommendations for enhancements.
  • Support clients in identifying sustainable financial options and understanding implications.
  • Contribute ideas for improving partner experience delivery.

Experience and Qualification Requirements

  • At least one year of experience in bookkeeping, accounts receivable/accounts payable, or payroll functions.
  • Understanding of fundamental accounting principles and standard procedures.
  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software and familiarity with related application ecosystems.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Microsoft Power Apps is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong accuracy in financial tasks.
  • Effective organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to high ethical standards and integrity.
  • Educational background including a Bachelor of Commerce degree or Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.
