Job description
About the Role
Eightball Media is a boutique agency focused on social media and personal branding, and the company is currently growing rapidly. The team works with ambitious entrepreneurs and recognizable brands, including names such as Ferrari and Holmes Place. Together with clients, the agency currently generates around 15–20 million impressions each month.
This role is a strong fit for someone who is driven, motivated to improve their craft, and comfortable receiving feedback. It is not meant for anyone who simply wants to complete tasks mechanically. The team is looking for an editor who wants to build a reputation in Germany and internationally alongside the company. The culture is informal, but also disciplined and ambitious.
What You Will Do
- Edit short-form videos such as Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts with strong energy and impact.
- Create long-form edits for vlogs, interviews, podcast episodes, and YouTube content.
- Build compelling hooks, maintain strong pacing, and add subtitles with a clear understanding of why the first few seconds matter most.
- Integrate motion graphics and captions directly into the editing workflow.
- Work closely with the creative team and stay actively involved in projects rather than sitting on the sidelines.
- Iterate quickly, take feedback constructively, and improve the work together with the team.
What You Need
Candidates are expected to show real output. A portfolio with at least five to eight strong examples is mandatory, and it should clearly indicate which parts were edited by you and which parts were filmed by you.
You should be confident using Premiere Pro and After Effects. Experience with DaVinci Resolve is a plus, and being strong in both tools is especially valuable. A solid understanding of social media is important—you should not just consume content, but also understand why some pieces perform well and others do not.
Experience with image-editing tools such as Adobe Suite or Affinity is also expected. Knowledge of AI tools is welcome, and additional technical skills are an advantage.
You need to be eager to learn and open to development. The company emphasizes that nobody is ever finished learning, and team members are supported step by step toward a higher level of work. Initiative matters: you should not wait for instructions, but help shape workflows, styles, projects, and the business together with the team. A formal degree is not required; experience and attitude matter more.
How to Apply
Applicants should send a CV and cover letter explaining why they want to become an editor here, what motivates them, why they chose editing, and what skills they already bring. The team wants a concise and personal application rather than a long essay.
A portfolio with at least five to eight examples is required. Applications submitted without a portfolio will not be reviewed.
As an optional extra, applicants may include a short self-introduction video. The team does not assess the edit itself, but simply uses it to get an initial impression of the person.
Location and Language Requirements
The position is based on-site in Leipzig. Only candidates who already live in Leipzig or specifically plan to relocate there will be considered. German must be spoken at native level.
Benefits
- Work on content that gets seen, not on throwaway projects.
- Receive direct, honest feedback and be involved in important projects from the start.
- Take part in exciting client work with real entrepreneurs and strong brands.
- Join a small team with short decision-making paths where every person genuinely matters.
- High performers can take on more responsibility quickly and develop into larger roles over time.
