Company Overview

dvlp.energy GmbH is a growing startup headquartered in Berlin Mitte, specializing in geoinformation systems to facilitate the expansion of renewable energy. The platform is Germany's leading tool for identifying and evaluating locations for wind, solar, battery, and data center projects, utilized by over 200 top energy companies including RWE, Trianel, and Axpo. The team consists of around 20 experts focusing on data science and web application development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring regional spatial and land-use planning documents such as LEPs, regional plans, and land-use plans, including drafts, and automate parts of this monitoring process.
  • Research and develop innovative methods to vectorize raster-based (image-based) maps.
  • Diligently process geospatial data using Python programming.
  • Conduct code reviews for fellow data team members ensuring quality and consistency.

Requirements

  • Advanced or completed studies in spatial planning or geoinformatics; applications from working students are welcomed.
  • Solid understanding of the spatial planning process.
  • Proficient in geospatial data processing using Python, including libraries like geopandas.
  • Experience with version control systems such as git.
  • Familiarity with GIS software tools like QGIS or ArcGIS.
  • Strong interest in and understanding of the energy sector.
  • Fluent in both German and English languages.
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code.
  • Effective communication skills and enthusiasm for teamwork.

Additional Information

Applicants must hold a valid work permit for Germany.
Working locale is onsite in Berlin.
The role involves working primarily in German and English environments.
